This section covers status and roadmaps for a collaborative project between ALU, Eurecom and INSA-Lyon related to large-scale system emulation with OpenAirInterface.
Required buidling blocks
-
UE RRC measurements event-triggering algorithm: This is the starting point for HO implementation. The algorithm for triggering the Measurement Reports needs to be implemented.
-
PHY Abstraction of UE RRC measurements: Above measurements to be provided in abstraction mode (this is essential for large-scale system simulations)
-
RRC procedures for supporting measurement signaling between eNB and UE has already been implemented.
-
Multi-cell simulations in eNB have been tested only by disabling channel models (using -S/-s options). This needs to be tested in abstraction mode with more than 2 eNBs and multiple Ues.
-
UE detachment from cell and reattachment to new cell needs to be tested using -J option in oaisim. This is critical for HO implementation.
-
Possibility of using a hack for the X2 interface to avoid delays in full X2 implementation were discussed. This needs to be discussed in detail in future.
-
A scenario needs to be fixed for the simulation which will allow performance analysis of ALU's ICIC algorithm (URGENT)
-
There is no link between topology model and channel model, currently in oaisim there is a hexagonal topology by default and this needs to support other topologies (eg: cellular). The channel models also need to support the topology.
-
Scheduling periodic PUSCH allocations for UEs in order to get sub-band UE feedback requires a change (hack?) in the eNB scheduler.
-
Changes in MAC/PHY at the UE (and eNB?) to support attachment to new cell during HO needs to be done.
